A French Antique Engraving of Whale Hunting Circa 1800
A stunning old French Engraving of a Whale Hunt....size framed is 15" x 13". The frame is not original to the engraving but is a lovely genuine old frame. I think that this engraving is an original Plate from a book...probably early 19th Century or late 18th century....the languages at the top appear to be German and French. The Engravers name appears in the bottom left hand corner....Hefsen. The only reference I can find to an Engraver of that name dates to the 1670's.Condition is good...some minor stains/blemishes as pictured.
