These Original pages have been taken from a copy of the Italian book 'Galleria Universale di Popoli Del Mondon' Antonelli, Venice 1841. The plates are hand coloured lithographs on a thick paper...two plates per page......page size is 11 1/8" x 8". Some slight yellowing mainly to edges but really the pages are in excellent condition for age.The Galleria was a four volume set featuring nearly 800 fabulous hand-colored stone lithographs on 394 plates. Volume I - Asia, 1838, 350 pp., plus 68 plates; Volume II - Africa, 1839, 359 pp., plus 86 plates; Volume III - America, 1841, 350 pp., plus 85 plates; Volume IV - Europe, 1842, 619 pp., plus index and 155 plates. The plates are extraordinary and hand colored with watercolor and gouache. They are a major tour-de-force of places, people and costumes from around the world.
