Royal Mail Steam Packet Company - 1907 Shipping Line Badge

Hall Marked for Birmingham 1907 Maker J.R. Gaunt & Son.The badge is in shape of a Ships Wheel and measures 1 1/4" diameter across the spokes. There is a small piece of the enamel missing of rim next to the Red Ensign. The Royal Mail Steam Packet Company was a British shipping company founded in London in 1839 by a Scot, James MacQueen. The line's motto was Per Mare Ubique. After good and bad times it became the largest shipping group in the world in 1927 when it took over the White Star Line. The company ceased operations in 1932.
