Ford Mustang GT 1984 Bathurst from Classic Carlectables
Limited Edition Quantity: 850
The Ford Mustang GT holds a unique place in Australian touring car history. In 1984, Dick Johnson and sponsor Ross Palmer imported two Zakspeed Mustangs to compete under new Group A touring car regulations.
At the Bathurst 1000, the Mustang qualified 48th and was entered as a backup car but withdrawn before the race—making it the event’s only non-starter. It later raced at Surfers Paradise and was repainted in DJR’s iconic green livery for 1985.
This 1/18 replica captures a key transitional moment for Dick Johnson Racing as the sport moved into the Group A era.
This model is highly detailed, featuring a finely moulded cowl vent, twin antennas, bonnet scoop, and kill switch. The Mustang Gold BBS wheels reveal slotted disc brakes with callipers on all four corners.
Inside, the left-hand-drive cockpit is fully stripped with a detailed roll cage, chassis pressing, switch box, and pedals. The racing seat includes soft padding and harnesses with individual buckles.
The 5.0L V8 draws air through twin snorkels in the engine bay, with a functional bonnet release. Underneath, metal suspension springs, working steering, and a detailed rear chassis with air jacks, fuel tank, and differential enhance realism. Each model also features an individually numbered etched metal plate.
