1/48 1940 BF 109E-4 - von Werra

Messerschmitt Bf 109E-4 single-seat fighter of Franz von Werra, II/JG-3, France September 1940. The Bf 109 formed the backbone of the Luftwaffe and was the most produced aircraft of the war. Fighter ace, and one-time POW, von Werra was perhaps most notable for his daring escapes from allied capture. Having proved a "handful" in England, he was shipped to Canada where he escaped again. This time making it back to Germany via the US, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, and Italy. For his efforts, Hitler awarded him the Knight's Cross. During Operation Barbarossa he increased his tally of victories to 21. He was then posted to the Netherlands, where he sadly perished on a Bf 109 test flight. Highly detailed diecast model, with rotating prop, and removable pilot figure. Landing gear can be posed up or down. Approx. 18.5cm x 20cm (7.25" x 8"). Comes with a display stand.
