Holden Dealer Team Holden LJ Torana GTR XU-1 #24 of Colin Bond and Leo Geoghegan , which finished 3rd in the 1973 "Great Race". This was the first Bathurst 1000, where the race distance was increased from 500 miles to 1000km. Pitted against Falcons and Chargers, there was scepticism that the Torana's could hack the pace. The Holden Dealer Team cars mounted an aggressive challenge, resulting in a 2nd place finish for the Peter Brock and Doug Chivas HDT Torana, with Bond and Geoghegan rounding out the podium.
