Snapdragons - Antirrhinum majus
One of my favourites, these Snapdragons are an old decorative flower. From the genetic center around southern Spain the cultivated form was spread throughout the whole Roman empire. Antirrhinum majus, has been cultivated since the 15th century and is known for its unique flower shape that resembles a dragon's head that "Snaps" when squeezed. As a cut flower they last well and look stunning in flower arrangements and Bouquets. They offer a splash of colour on a lance like foliage stem with upright flowers.
