Large Trobriand Islands Hand Carved Food Bowl

Big oblong hand carved food platter measuring 25" in length with a maximum width of 10 1/2". Has typical Trobriand Islands decoration to either end......very nicely made item dating to around mid 1900's. Has a piece of the decoration missing at one end. The TROBRIAND ISLANDS are a group of coral islands off the East Coast of PNG. The largest island of the group is Kiriwina.
