The AquaOne Phos Pad which absorbs phosphate from your Aquarium water. High phosphate levels within an Aquarium is one of the major food sources for algae. Phosphate builds up over time as a result of too much or poor quality Fish Food, lack of regular water changes and decaying plant or Animal matter. Phos Pad does not substitute for good Aquarium keeping practices. Phos Pad should be used as a preventative or treatment: not a cure for prolonged phosphate concentrations in your Aquarium. The chemical exchange properties of Phos Pad which uses a phosphate absorbing resin means; Phos Pad has a use life. The life of your Phos Pad can vary depending on the phosphate concentrations in your Aquarium. When high phosphate concentrations are present, the Phos Pad should be replaced every few days.
