The de Havilland Dragon Rapide was introduced in the 1930s as a passenger airliner. Shown here in British European Airways (BEA) livery. A twin engined aircraft with tapered wings and streamlined fairings, it proved to be fast and comfortable, and was a very successful commercial aircraft. The RAF used them for passenger and communications duties at the beginning of WW2 and, along with the Royal Navy, used slightly modified Rapides (known as Dominies) for radio and navigation training later in the war. A great wee model. Rotating props, and comes with a display stand. Approx. 14.5cm x 20cm (5.75" x 8").
