Fascularia bicolor is a rare and unusual terrestrial Bromeliad from the cool coast of Chile. It forms a rosette of very tough aloe-like leaves. While the leaves do have spines, they are not very menacing, so it is safe to grow the plant near walkways. In summer, the inner leaves turn bright red and a ball of electric blue and yellow flowers are formed at the centre of mature plants. One of my favourites and absolutely stunning when coloured.
